My Bio
Welcome to my website. I hope it can answer all of your questions, and you can find all the information you need to aid in your child's education. Teaching is a passion of mine. Outside of school, I also have many interests and hobbies. I love to travel, watch the Illini and Cardinals, go to live DMB concerts, cook, and spend time with my wife, son and daughter.
I began teaching at Franklin Middle School in 2004. Along with teaching science I also am a Science Olympiad coach. Working at Franklin has given me the opportunity to teach under great administration, alongside skilled and knowledgeable teachers, and work daily with some of the most outstanding students I have ever taught. I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful job and am proud to say I am part of the Franklin family.

My Educational Background
I was born in Decatur and raised in Arcola, IL. I attended Arcola schools where I participated in many different sports, clubs and organizations. Among them were National Honor Society, American Field Service, Yearbook, baseball, Scholastic Bowl, and the band programs. It was through my years here in the Arcola School District where I encountered and fell in love with learning. I owe it to the fantastic educators I was able to have as role models who inspired me to become a teacher as well. After high school, I attended Eastern Illinois Univeristy in Charleston, IL.
I attended Eastern Illinois University where I received my teaching certification in 2003. Even though I "bleed" orange and blue, I chose Eastern for their outstanding College of Education and Professional Studies program. I conducted my student teaching in Mattoon School District teaching third grade. Prior to teaching in Champaign Unit 4, I have had been in many schools performing observations, practicums, and substitute teaching. All educational experiences have prepared me for my years here at Franklin, where I continue to learn on a daily basis. Besides studying education at Eastern, I also participated in the EIU Marching and Concert Bands, was a member of Illinois Middle School Association, co-ed recreational league sports, and the music service fraternity Kappa Kappa Psi.
I returned to Eastern shortly after teaching at Franklin to continue my education by to pursue my Master's Degree. I earned my Masters Degree in Educational Administration from Eastern Illinois University in May 2011. I believe that the learning process never stops and as an educator I should continue to learn about my profession. For this reason, I continue to take education based courses through the University of La Verne in order to receive professional development certificates.
